Japan:

Japan has agreed to return more than 1,000 items of Korean cultural assets that the country seized during the 1910-45 colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula, including centuries-old royal books

Japan:

The Cabinet of Prime Minister Naoto Kan will adopt on a basic policy on free trade, including its stance on a US-backed trans-Pacific free trade agreement

South Korea:

Jack Pritchard, president of the Washington-based Korea Economic Institute, arrives in Seoul after a week spent on a private trip in North Korea, during which he met with officials from Pyongyang's foreign ministry and exchanged views on the resumption of the stalled six-party talks aimed at denuclearizing the communist nation in return for political and economic benefits.

Kyrgyzstan:

The police in Kyrgyzstan have detained 30 people who attempted to seize farming lands near the Osh airport in Kyrgyz south. Their families intend to hold a rally in front of the regional administration building to demand that the region's leadership legalize the land plots they have seized.

Hearing of an appeal by the Akyykat party, which is challenging the official results of the 10th October parliamentary polls

Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis may react to European Commission's 2010 Turkey Progress Report, due to be published today, if no mention of an easing of visa requirements mentioned.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army to begin a week-long series of joint military training exercises with the Turkish armed forces in Turkey, which include assault training and tactics in hilly terrain

Syria:

Hamas and Fatah reconciliation talks in Damascus. Formation of a security committee to be entrusted with "rebuilding" the security agencies in the West Bank and Gaza Strip will be the main topic at the reconciliation talks. Abbas already said no place for Hamas members in security agencies.

Yemen:

Following up after the Bakil tribal federation, an influential Yemeni tribal group, pledged to support the Yemeni government's crackdown on al-Qaida operations. In a statement released after a 7,000-Bakil-member meeting in Sanaa, the tribal federation said it would combat al Qaeda because it has damaged the reputation of Yemeni tribes and the Yemeni state.

Jordan:

Some 2.37 million Jordanians head to the polls on Tuesday to elect their representatives in the country's 16th parliament. Yesterday, the internal court of the Islamic Action Front (IAF) suspended seven IAF members for standing as candidates in contradiction of the party's boycott of the polls
